VRAI announces that they are collaborating with Varjo to leverage biometric data in simulation training to improve human performance
VRAI and Varjo, two leading simulation companies from Europe, are announcing a collaboration to help transform simulation training and improve human performance by leveraging biometric data through virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality devices.
Varjo is on a mission to change computing for good by merging virtual, augmented and traditional realities, and are industry leaders in producing high-resolution virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (XR) headsets for use in enterprise settings. VRAI are focused on transforming simulation data into actionable insights by providing a simulation data product called HEAT that enables simulation users to capture, store, analyse and present sim data.
Niall Campion, VRAI’s Managing Director for Customers & Product said:
“We believe data is the untapped resource in simulation training, and that it can transform how training is delivered. In order to harness the power of data & AI in simulation training, the first step is to start capturing data. We feel privileged to be one of the few companies currently exploring enhancing virtual and mixed reality headsets with biometric capabilities, and we are excited to start working closer with the team at Varjo.”
“Virtual and mixed reality are the next frontier of training and simulation. With the power of Varjo’s technology, trainees can practice for dangerous scenarios in a completely lifelike environment while improving engagement and learning results. By augmenting the immersive experience with biometric data, companies can gain new insight into cognitive loads and stress levels with even more precision and reliability,” said Seppo Aaltonen, Chief Commercial Officer at Varjo.
Project OdySSEy sees BAE Systems bringing together experts in simulation, supercomputing, data analytics, and augmented and virtual reality to create a single synthetic environment, enabling air, land, sea, space, and cyber forces to plug in and train together.
Commenting on the collaboration, Head of Training at BAE Systems Air, Lucy Walton said: “The success of Project OdySSEy is made possible through collaboration with leading technology providers that integrate their unique capabilities to deliver limitless benefits for our customer. The collaboration announcement between VRAI and Varjo is a particularly exciting one for BAE Systems, knowing that our partners are benefitting from the Project OdySSEy ecosystem outside of their work with us.”
“Project OdySSEy is already benefiting from the actionable insight achieved from biometric capabilities, and allows us to create a truly bespoke training solution for every trainee we encounter.”
Both companies are working with some of the leading simulation providers in the market such as VRAI with BAE Systems, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and the European Defence Fund Consortium FEDERATES led by Rheinmetall, Thales, Leonardo & Indra. Varjo’s technology is already used in over 70 defence programs worldwide.
For more information how simulation data can transform your training, both companies will be exhibiting at the upcoming I/ITSEC Conference in Orlando Florida from 27 No to 01 Dec. VRAI on booth 772, and Varjo on booth 1460.
